Having a baby is undoubtedly one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences in any woman’s life. It is also by the very same token an experience that can (at least in my case) wreak havoc on said woman’s body and Beauty routine( which is why I am sharing 10 ways to look younger for Moms  )

Let’s just break it down here for a moment– you are carrying and growing another person inside of you- and so there’s that which can create some major issues for your once taut belly (and don’t even GET ME STARTED ON THE KANGAROO POUCH left behind by a c-section).

If you decide to breastfeed you can expect your breasts to deflate upon completion and well I COULD GO ON. The truth is though- having a baby and being able to carry said baby to term is a MIRACLE. And believe me I worked awfully hard to grow the two humans I take care of on a daily basis but that is not to say their arrivals did not MAJORLY IMPACT my body. ( I love to remind my daughter that I BROKE EVERY BLOOD VESSEL IN MY FACE during her labor and delivery whenever she is acting a bit fresh and  all I need to do is point to my C-section scar to remind my son of his entrance into this world- but I digress.)

FAST FORWARD A FEW YEARS AND you find yourself in the carpool lane and you realize you aren’t angry and yet every time you look in your rear view mirror you have a permanent SCOWL! What to do?

10 Ways to Look Younger

First Up Dr. Emil Shares his tips for getting that youthful glow!

1. Healthy Skin improves signs of aging.  Proper nutrition which is eating healthy and vitamins is the most important step to good health and looking younger and feeling great.
2. Exercise will improve your level of fitness.  When you are physically fit, your mind functions better, you feel better and your hormones are more balanced which leads to feeling and looking younger.
3. Proper skin care regimen.  Using a good moisturizer can keep the skin well hydrated.  Sunscreen will help prevent hyperpigmentation or sun spots and decrease the effects of damage the sun can do to the skin.  Also, skin regimen can be composed of a Retin A product to improve the quality of your skin and Vitamin C topical formula can decrease abnormal pigmentation.
4. Wrinkle treatments! Once the  wrinkles start setting in you want to treat them.  This can be accomplished with treatments and injections of neurotoxins (Botox, Jeuveau, and Dysport) every three months.  These medications will relax the muscles for 3 months and relax and soften the appearance of those wrinkles.

Chemical peels can also improve the appearance of the wrinkles and the overall skin texture.  Newer treatments like the Plasma Pen which produces plasma energy to tighten the skin often referred to as Fibroblasting.

 
5. Volume restoration.  As we age, we lose volume in the face and get hollowing or a deflated appearance.  This can be improved with injections of Dermal Fillers.  Dermal fillers typically have hyaluronic acid which can last upto or more than one year.  The results are instantaneous.

1. Sleep
Often moms are so busy that they end up sacrificing sleep to get all their tasks accomplished. 7-8 hours a night is best to feel better and keep yourself looking better.
2. Water
Hydration is also super important. It keeps our bodies including our skin moisturized and robust.
3. Sunscreen
Sunscreen year round is key in preserving our skin, even during the winter. Not just sunscreen in moisturizers or primers, but as a stand alone. Sunscreen can protect skin from getting burned and getting age spots.
4. Limiting junk food and alcohol
All things in moderation. Junk food and too much alcohol can affect our bodies and our skin also. Our bodies thrive on things that are good for us, the proper fuel goes a long way.
5. Injectables like neurotoxins and dermal fillers
When you need that extra boost to look refreshed, injectables can be a great way to maintain a youthful appearance.
