So maybe it was the anticipation of having to sit in Temple for Two days On Rosh Hashana aka Judgment day when “3 books are opened, the book of life, for the righteous among the nations, the book of death, for the most evil who receive the seal of death, and the third book for the ones living in doubts with non-evil sins.”
And yes I was so full of anxiety that I am sure I manifested a COLD SORE on my lip. Ok I’m probably exaggerating but the thought of either being written in the book of life or death – totally freaks me out and has me conjuring up roasting in a hot fire pit for all eternity for my transgressions. Whereas my husband who sat along side of me in shul had not a CARE IN THE WORLD- and his lips are currently pristine.
I haven’t had one of these since high school and I had forgotten what it was like when you are sporting one of these and well it has brought me to three truths about life.
#1 When you first meet someone their eyes are IMMEDIATELY drawn to your lip. Then they QUICKLY avert their gaze and will do any thing to avoid making eye contact with you while you are having a conversation. Case in point I had to attend an event this past week with this crusty cold sore on my lip. I tried everything to make it less obvious- but concealer is NOT MAGIC. The people I encountered that day mainly talked to me while looking at their phones.
#2 Having an older husband is a blessing. My husband is 58 and his eye sight is definitely not what it was when we met and he was 38. The man has spent the entire week telling me he can’t see anything and that it is drying up. GOD BLESS HIM and his poor eyesight.
#3 Cold sore medicines are the biggest RACKET GOING, You but the tiniest tube ( literally I believe it was manufactured in Lillipuita) for like $25 plus Tax and I swear MY COLD SORE IS GETTING WORSE NOT BETTER.
Also– Dogs will love you regardless of what you look like. So here I am at the Louie’s Legacy meet and greet event and all these doggies could care LESS about my cold sore. Lesson learned- DOGS ARE BETTER THAN PEOPLE. Also adopt a dog from Louie’s Legacy like this guy Peechy (a 10 year old gent looking for a home to call his own) who could care less about my face!
