4 Features That Will Increase the Value of Your Kitchen

April 25, 2018 by Melissa Chapman 5 Comments

One of the most popular rooms in the house is the kitchen. It is considered the heart of the home, and it is especially important to home buyers. When you and your spouse upgrade your home, you want to keep in mind some features that will actually increase its value. Here are 4 Features That Will Increase the Value of Your Kitchen.

4 Features That Will Increase the Value of Your Kitchen

Garbage disposals

You may not have pictured a garbage disposal when you thought of a pricey kitchen, but home buyers do actually want these. Architect John Hammes created the very first garbage disposal in 1927 in his home workshop. Today, garbage disposals are as popular as ever. They can last between five to 10 years. They eliminate some waste, they reduce odor, and they make meal cleanup much easier.

Smart technology

Smart home technology is on the rise, and buyers like to see it in the homes they look at. Because the kitchen is usually the most popular room in the house, it’s a great place for smart technology. You can incorporate touch-sensor sinks, smart refrigerators, smart lights, and an Amazon Echo to do the rest.

Functional sinks

Not only are aesthetics important, but functionality is too. Home buyers want large, deep, farmhouse sinks that are stainless steel for easy access and maintenance. They make doing dishes much easier. If you have a large kitchen, a smaller prep sink in the island can also add utility space that is attractive to buyers.

Good lighting

Natural light is very important to home buyers, and the kitchen is no exception to this rule. Large windows that are strategically space in your kitchen to let the sunlight in are great. You can also use artificial lights like recessed lighting, lights under the cabinets, and other overhead lights to create a welcoming atmosphere in your kitchen.

Your kitchen renovation can see a 70% return on investment when you sell your home. This is true as long as you choose the right features. Design a kitchen that suits your needs as well as appeals to potential buyers in the future. Remember, the kitchen can make or break the sale, so make it beautiful.

Hallejuah for good lighting and a working garbage disposal. I have 2 out of the 4 on this list. We have a smaller kitchen but we make do and even have an island in it.

I am all about natural light. I love a bright home that lets in light. I am not a fan of dark rooms.

I am swooning over this kitchen! I dream of the day that I can have a large open gorgeous kitchen with natural lighting and everything white and bright! Our current kitchen does not facilitate the kitchen environment I dream of 🙂

We really want to improve our kitchen as it’s quite old fashioned. I’d love something bright and airy with some smart appliances and power points where you can charge your iPhone without using a plug etc. Ah, we can but dream!
