4 Tips to ACTUALLY Accomplish Your Fitness Resolutions

March 28, 2022 by Melissa Chapman 10 Comments

4 Tips to ACTUALLY Accomplish Your Fitness Resolutions in a sponsored post

I don't believe in scales. Why? Probably because of those O.A.(Overeaters Anonymous) meetings I attended with my then thirty-something year old mother.

4 Tips to ACTUALLY Accomplish Your Fitness Resolutions

To this day what stands out for me most about those meetings- held in what felt like a clinical doctor's office with a scale smack dab in the middle of the room- was the painfully embarrassing turns each person HAD TO TAKE ON SCALE in front of all those who were in attendance.

4 Tips to ACTUALLY Accomplish Your Fitness Resolutions

I guess The act of being  publicly shamed into calling out your weight in a sea of others scrutinizing your inability to lose said weight- was supposed to serve as an INCENTIVE to lose the weight. When it was my mother's turn to get on the scale she would do so with her head down as she flashed me a nervous smile. Some weeks she'd get off the scale looking determined and others she'd look absolutely dejected. I think those days, sitting in those meetings watching these agonizing weigh-ins are what formed my opinion about the SCALE. I HATE IT.

4 Tips to ACTUALLY Accomplish Your Fitness Resolutions

Fast forward to 2022 and I have learned that the scale doesn't have to be enemy and it also doesn't need to be a barometer of my worth as a person. And with that being said , my 49th birthday is right around the corner, which means I am  reflecting on the past year and resolving to make positive changes. More often than not, my birthday resolutions are tied to health and fitness.

Unfortunately many of us, quite literally, hit the ground running at the turn of a new birthday only to burn out in just a few months. To help get you (and me)  started, I've got 4 Tips to ACTUALLY Accomplish Your Fitness Resolutions

4 Tips to ACTUALLY Accomplish Your Fitness Resolutions

1. Invest in a great pair of sneakers! My latest  obsession are Avia Hightail Sneakers !

4 Tips to ACTUALLY Accomplish Your Fitness Resolutions

I cannot stress enough how in love I am with these Avia hightail sneakers 👟 not only are they super comfy with their cushioning that relieves stress on knees and ankles but they are also less than $25 at Walmart !! They come in lots of really fun colors too! shop 🛍 them now! A great pair of sneakers will motivate you to get up and move and feel comfortable and stylish while doing so!

Success in fitness is contingent upon setting concrete goals with dates for achieving them. So, in order to stick to your birthday resolution, set a specific goal this year, such as training for a triathlon! Having a fitness event several months away on your calendar will give your workouts a purpose and keep you motivated

2. Many folks who join the gym for their birthday resolution, end up quitting because they don't see the results they were hoping for. But what they don't know is that they could be making common gym mistakes:

Doing the same routine instead of modifying workouts to keep muscles stimulated

Lifting weights that are too heavy, which minimizes the muscular time-under-tension or the quality of the movement

Performing cardio at too low of intensity versus high-intensity interval training

Spending too much time doing abdominal exercises instead of lifting weights, which will raise your metabolism and help you burn calories 24 hours a day

By committing to just 25 minutes of High-Intensity Interval Training, you will burn maximum calories in the shortest amount of time.

To achieve your fitness goals once and for all, the key is to believe in yourself. You must recover quickly from setbacks, and develop a deep interest and strong sense of commitment to your fitness activities.

And of course having a great pair of Avia Hightail Sneakers !

I too don’t use the scale for my fitness progress. Fitness is something we do for our health and not for an image.

I also will be 49 this year. On Feb 14th, I decided I had to do something to stay healthy for my family. I have lost 8 pounds, many inches all over, and have improved my over all mental, emotional, and physical health. I usually wear Brooks but I’ll be checking those shoes out. Keep up the hard work.

It’s important to have the right equipment when taking part in exercise. A good pair of sneakers can really help. I’m not even sure where our scales are!

These are great tips! On top of switching up workouts, I have always found more success when my workout is preplanned. I’m not someone who can make it up on the fly at the gym or I’ll end up doing less!
