5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

February 3, 2020 by Melissa Chapman 19 Comments

I’ve partnered with Green Giant, Optimum Nutrition, vitafusion and L’il Critters as part of an Influencer Activation and all opinions expressed in my post 5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020 are my own.

5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

We are one month into the start of  a new year which means it’s time to take the temperature of our parenting resolutions- or more aptly if you are parenting more consciously in 2020. (Hence I’m sharing 5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020 )

5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

As parents most of us have the right intentions, but in the hustle and bustle of daily life, sometimes it’s difficult to parent positively. As a result, a lot of our interactions with our kids are reactive and  it’s important to become more aware of our parenting behaviors.

As we enter into a new year, it’s the perfect time to become more intentional about how we do and don’t want to be when we’re with our children.

With that in mind-remember, no parent is perfect, and we all make mistakes. So these 5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020 are meant to be gentle reminders, not indictments! You might even find it helpful to print this list of 5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020 out and post it on the fridge or bathroom mirror as a daily tickler.

5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

Be the Change you want to see when it comes to encouraging your kids to be healthy.

5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

When it comes to modeling healthy habits for my kidlets and I’m all about eating healthy and having them do so too.

We are not only starting a new year but a new decade. I for one want to make this the best year and decade of our lives. My son and daughter are also starting new schools high school and college.

My husband runs every day and I work out regularly so it is so important that we get the proper nutrition. We have all adopted a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle and it is so important to get all the vitamins and protein we need. It is so important to get the proper nutrition including Vitamin B12 and D as well as protein that we might not get in our diets.

5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

In order to get our recommended vitamins we take Vitafusion Men’s Gummy Vitamins, Women’s Vitamins and L’il Critters for the kids. They all have proven absorption so that we know that what we are taking is being absorbed into our system.

The Men’s and Women’s all have a great award winning taste and the L’il Critters have the gummy bear shape kids love. What we also like about them is that L‘il Critters have the vitamins in a great tasting gummy and no artificial sweeteners, added flavors, high fructose corn syrup, dairy or gluten.

Vitafusion is also the only gummy vitamin brand with “clinically proven absorption”* and has Award Winning Taste!**

And L’il Critters is the only gummy vitamin brand with “doctor tested proven nutrient absorption”*

*For Vitamins C & D3 in products that contain those nutrients

** The ChefsBest Excellence Award is awarded to brands that surpass a quality standard established by independent professional chefs.

5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

So how do we make sure we are getting enough protein? We use Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey. A protein isolate with 24 grams of protein without the added carbohydrates or fat. A serving only has 120 calories, 1.5 grams of fat or less and 2grams or less of sugar. So easy to mix in water or your favorite beverage. We also get a real boost with Essential Amino Energy which provides 5 grams of Amino Acids and 100 grams of caffeine instead of plain coffee.

5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

So now that we are set for supplements and protein sources for 2020 – we need a healthy snack too!

5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

With breakfast or snacks we give him Green Giant CauliflowerVeggie Hash Browns. Their great taste fits into our lifestyle and has one serving of cauliflower in each one with no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.

5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

A fun way to eat your veggies You can also get the cauliflower gnocchi at Walmart if you like the hash browns.

5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

Model kindness and compassion.

We all say we want to raise kids who are kind and compassionate—but be honest: How often do you demonstrate those values in action? The values that stick will be the ones you live, not the ones you preach about.

5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020

Criticize less and HUG AND KISS more.

Parental criticism comes from a good place. We want our children to learn, improve, develop good habits, avoid mistakes, and generally be the best they can be. But we don’t always stop to consider the impact our criticism has on their self-image and confidence. This year, I am striving to be more sensitive of what I’m criticizing, how often I’m  criticizing, and whether or not it’s constructive or destructive and I’m hugging and kissing my children as much as possible and as long as they’ll let me.

Give them the responsibilities and freedoms they’ve earned.

You may want your kids to stay little forever, but they’re growing physically, emotionally, and psychologically every day. Even though it is bittersweet for me this year I am giving them privileges and responsibilities that are appropriate for their ages and maturity levels.

Spend more positive time with my kids on their terms.

Don’t forget that your kids are unique human beings with their own interests, abilities, and strengths—many of which may differ from yours! This year I’m all about helping my kids develop their interests and compliment them frequently for their efforts and successes. Care about and support your kids’ friendships, too, and their happiness in general.” I’m also Taking a mental journey back in time and trying NOT to  project my childhood experiences onto my own child.

Always remember that the goal of parenting is to create happy, healthy, moral, successful, positively contributing adults! What are your thoughts on my 5 Parenting Resolutions for 2020 ?

My kids do take their vita gummies at least! But we are all working on being healthier. I find we do like the cauliflower foods. We tried cauliflower crust and really liked it!

I’ll have to enter the sweepstakes.

Being intentional about our choices and modeling healthy habits is important when raising children. As an adult, I love gummy bear vitamins just as much as the kids do! Starting 2020 with healthy routines that include vitamins is a great beginning to the new year.

I love the last one. Meeting kids on their terms validates them and opens the door. It’s hard, sometimes, but so worth it. I’m learning K-Pop music since that’s my daughter’s passion right now. 🙂

I think it’s important to lead by example, and taking your vitamins daily is a great example to set. I do take the Women’s Vitafusion gummies daily. They taste great, and now my 16 year old daughter takes them too. Great reminders on how we can always strive to better our parenting skills!

As a parent, I couldn’t agree more with all your resolutions. I have always encouraged positivity to my son. And since he’s already a teen, I give him the freedom to enjoy what he wants for as long as it’s not bad for him.

I love the parenting resolutions. My daughter is nearly ten and I\’ve been giving her more responsibilities and more freedom. I don\’t nag her to practice piano, but she understands that there\’s an expectation that she puts time into it.
