Beauty Tips to Combat Maskne and keep Skin Glowing

Tell me how do you care for this skin you are in?! Are you currently dealing with maskne? Beauty Post Covid has brought its fair share of challenges!

After MANY MONTHS of getting up each morning and peering into the reflection staring back at me in the mirror and seeing those 11 lines etch even deeper I decided it was time to finally get a Botox treatment with Doctor Bev

You can check it out here:

And while I was there I got some  beauty advice from Doctor Bev  to combat maskne !

Get Your Botox with Dr. Bev

The Staten Island Family: Is there anything you can do to prevent maskne -when you need to wear a mask?

Doctor Bev: It is very hard to prevent maskne completely but making sure you have a clean mask and clean skin underneath is key. Try not to wear makeup as that can clog the pores.

The Staten Island Family: What are the best treatments for maskne ?

Doctor Bev: Best treatment would be cleansing your skin twice a day, toning your skin with a toner that has a little salicylic acid in it (such as zo complexion renewal pads) and exfoliating a couple times a week. Monthly facials can also help to clear out the skin.

The Staten Island Family: can you tell us about some great peels  you are offering to keep your maskne at bay?

Doctor Bev: We really love the VI peel. It is a medium depth peel to help improve skin tone, texture and clarity. It also helps with fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage. It has some salicylic acid in it which will help fight some breakouts.

The Staten Island Family: Anything else you want to share about maskne?

Doctor Bev: Maskne is very frustrating and mainly caused from sweat and friction within your mask. Make sure you are not over exfoliating your skin or using too many drying products to help clear the acne. That can only make the situation worse. Minimal treatment and keeping your skin clean and hydrated will be your  best bet.

And the good news is that Peel season is here and Doctor Bev is doing everything possible to help keep moms like me from looking like the crypt keeper!

And are you too are Counting down the hours until it’s time to feast on your favorite pumpkin pie?

This year, Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be just about the food! check out some of these Thanksgiving day-inspired skin solutions to help your skin look as good as your food tastes!

Check out these Thanksgiving inspired diy beauty solutions from Dr. Whitney Bowe to help your skin look as good as your food tastes!

Cinnamon: Cinnamon is a key ingredient for most Thanksgiving meals. You can find it in apple pie, pumpkin pie, and mulled cider. Cinnamon boosts circulation, giving a healthy glow and transporting essential nutrients to the layers of the skin where collagen and elastic tissue are being produced.

DIY tip: Apply a cinnamon honey face mask 1-2 times per week. The honey will restore moisture to your skin and reduce redness, and the cinnamon will increase circulation while also ridding your skin of any acne-causing bacteria.

Sweet Potatoes, Butternut Squash, Pumpkin: These richly colored foods contain beta-carotene, an antioxidant which promotes skin health and texture, AND as a gorgeous added benefit they give a beautiful, even golden hue to your skin.  These orange-colored vegetables are the secret to a golden glow without the sun or self-tanner.  This is good news if your skin is milk bottle white, as these skin tones tend to show up fake tan streaks much more then sallow skin tones.

Another tip from Dr. Bowe- whipping up a juice which contains carrots, sweet potato, cantaloupe, coconut water and chia seeds – it not only tastes delicious but has all the ingredients to give you healthy nutrients and a radiant glow!

Cranberries: This berry is high in collagen-building vitamin C and ellagic acid, an antioxidant that protects skin from sun damage and hinders the formation of enzymes which break down elastin in the skin. Try making your own antioxidant-boosting mask by mixing a half cup of mashed cranberries together with a half cup of yogurt (which contains probiotics, a healthy bacteria and anti-inflammatory) to reveal hydrated, radiant-looking skin!

So are you ready to implement these Beauty Tips to Combat Maskne and keep Skin Glowing?

Maskne is really such a bummer! I do find that make up makes it a little bit worse so I haven’t really worn a lot or any at all since the spring.

I need to try these out. I hate when I get acne. Sometimes my skin can look so dull in the winter. I’m so glad cinnamon helps, because I love it!

You look fantastic! I tend to stay home a lot, so I haven’t had trouble with maskne. I’m very pale, I’ll have to see if my skin turns more golden after Thanksgiving!
