DIY Fun: Show your love with a Handmade Mother’s Day Present

After living with me for 21 and 17 years respectively my daughter and son know the direct route to my heart is essentially through anything they can craft for me with their hands.

There is nothing I love more than for my kid to Show your love with a Handmade Mother’s Day Present. My heart stretches in ways that are hard to articulate when I get a gift that I know was conceived with JUST me in mind.

And sure- my kids (err husband) can spend upwards of $500 on a Waterford crystal vase, buy an iPad and/or get me more clothing. Or, hopefully, they can get creative and design a one-of-a-kind present that will demonstrate just how much effort and thought they put into their gift.

Hey there’s nothing wrong with them scoring a few extra points with their mama -right?!

Handmade Birthday Gifts

And when I almost threatened to take away her iPad , several years ago, for fear that my daughter was becoming way too obsessed with Youtube –she actually took inspiration from one video to create this handmade  gift for me.

Whatever you are celebrating; the ultimate way to Show your love is with a Handmade Present. And this DIY Fun: Show your love with a Handmade Mother’s Day Present is one that is easy to make!

Here are the tools you will need:

How to: Show your love with a DIY Handmade Birthday Present

#1 A deck of Cards

#2 A Hole Puncher

#3 Star Stickers

#4 Post it notes

#5 a Scissor

#6 a pretty ribbon

#7 Labels

Directions:

For my  present my daughter’s decided to create a book titled: 41 Things I love About you. She took a playing card punched two holes in it   and decorated each card with one thing she loved about me. I’ll be honest I cried that UGLY CRY as I thumbed through each car. Here are a few of my favorite ones.

How to: Show your love with a DIY Handmade Birthday PresentI loved #11: Your Hardworking Nature most because I feel this never-ending guilt that sometimes my work must take me away from my kids.

And this card simply validated the fact that my daughter sees me working- and rather than seeing it as a negative she spins it into a positive.

I hope she learns to value the work she will choose to do one day- and that I will have been some small part of that work ethic.

How to: Show your love with a DIY Handmade Birthday PresentI’m not going to lie– I WANT TO BE THE FUN PARENT, so the fact that my daughter sees me as “Always being up for fun” makes me feel good. Although I need to remind her that there is a FINE line between me being a Fun Mom and that Mom Amy Poehler plays in Mean Girls.

Of course not to be OUTDONE by his older sister my son shared these two pictures of us together….

DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS lol!

Why are my arms Soooo long?! I don't know but this birthday card my nine year old made me seems a little. "rushed" also him asking me if I want to go on the swings is lifted from somewhere *we have NEVER GONE ON THE SWINGS* #littleboyswhoareshortontime

And here is another one- with an older gentleman which is supposed to be GD telling us we will always be together. In all honesty he looks more like Kris Kringle but I digress.
