So we are more than a few months away from putting those lofty parenting resolutions we all crafted and are determined to stick to in 2022 into practice. ( I have some help for those of us myself included who have fallen off the wagon — The Only Five Parenting Tips You will Ever Need ). Unfortunately, oftentimes rather than focus on all the wonderful gifts you’ve just given your kids many of us, myself included, spend endless brain power miring in I’m not as good a parent as I should be guilt. Let’s face it, none of us are perfect, and a healthy dose of guilt probably keeps us on our toes or at least from screaming a lot more than we already do. (I’m personally trying to cut down, really I am!)
This is precisely what parenting resolutions are designed for: to give us multitasking parents a chance at a clean slate, another 365 days to get it right. Or at least each night, when we fall breathlessly into bed, the sense that we imparted just a bit of kindness and wisdom to our little ones and are raising productive, eco-friendly citizens of the world.
One of my resolutions has been love notes. I’ve relished the opportunity to be able to write my kids little love notes, which I tuck in their school bags. They are tokens of my affection for them; almost like a way for me to whisper into their ear, while they were sitting at their school desks- just how much I love them.
But I am always searching for tips to improve my parenting, especially during mornings that I might be found losing my cool- and patience. And then I found these Five Top Parenting Tips that Never go out of Style on Pinterest- and well they resonated on every single level. No matter what age or stage you are parenting in- these are The Only Five Parenting Tips You will Ever Need.
#1 Listen. #2 Remember you are NOT always right. #3 Be with them. #4 Let them CRY it out. #5 Hold them Close.
