The thing about parenting is that it is an ever changing ride- you get on, strap yourself in, take every precaution possible and there are still no guarantees you won’t be hanging upside down clinging to dear life praying to whatever power you believe in to keep you and your littles (or not so little children) safe. And despite your best prayers there will be so many instances where control over your children’s well-being will be completely our of the scope of your control. And for any parent sending their child away to school or camp- you know that you will eventually have to adopt this kind of mindset- and the ability to give your child their wings ( even when all you want to do is clip them!)

My daughter just completed her junior year in high school and that means we are currently entrenched in researching State University of New York colleges and more importantly we will be taking a few trips upstate New York this summer and in early fall. We want to give her that college campus experience but want her to remain in state since her NY resident status will help defray the cost of college tuition.

Although I know we will be going on these New York State college tours for a few days, my baby girl will eventually be living on a SUNY campus. Some of the cities we will be visiting are Binghamton, Oneonta, Syracuse, Albany, Rochester and Buffalo. And regardless of which New York state campus she chooses ultimately she will need to access to everything and that includes getting medical care.
So you can imagine my sense of relief and comfort when I learned that New York State is home to several Five Star Urgent Care centers These centers provide quick, convenient care that helps get you back to life faster and most insurance is accepted. At a Five Star Urgent Care center my daughter will be able to resolve many medical issues from colds and flus to sprains and strains, injuries, illness, physicals and testing. And for a mom who can’t be physically there to nurse my kid with a sore throat back to health- the next best thing is knowing that Five Star Urgent Care is there to help save the day – with little to no wait and no appointment necessary. In fact their list of services is incredibly comprehensive! Also during these summer months they treat bites and bruises, sun burns so they can take care of many problems if they arise on our summer college tour trips. And for those who need those physical forms filled out– they provide $30 Camp, Sports and School Physicals.

Bottom line; here are just a few reason why Five Star Urgent Care Gets this Mom’s Seal of Approval:
For non-life-threatening illness or injury Five Star Urgent Care is a quick, convenient and cost effective alternative to visiting the ER or waiting to get into your physicians office.
As a walk-in facility, their friendly, professional staff can treat common, minor injuries and illnesses including bronchitis, sinusitis, allergies and sprains – with little to no wait and no appointment necessary.
Five Star also performs on-site X-rays, stitches and lab testing for added convenience.
Five Star Urgent coordinates with your insurance carrier for payments. And all of their urgent care locations treat patients with or without insurance.

While we are on our trip upstate and when my daughter is ultimately living there for college we feel comforted just knowing that Five Star Urgent Care is close by when and if she needs their services. Find them on Facebook and check out a location nearest you here: https://izea.it/atk8J7Y

What a comfort that must be to know that there will be reliable health care available. I can totally relate to how you feel as a mother myself.
As a mom, it makes me feel so good to know that these places are out there waiting to take care of me and my family and that they make it so easy on us.
Looking into medical care for your daughter while she’s at college is sensible. There was always an office on campus at my college and others around here, I didn’t realize they all didn’t have one.
What a great service to have close to home. Definitely gives a piece of mind.
We have an urgent care that just opened one block from us! Couldn’t be any more convenient!
It’s comforting knowing that there is always an urgent care nearby. Whenever we travel, we like to find hotels that are near to an urgent care just in case.
Urgent Care facilities are such a comfort to have nearby. We’ve used them plenty of times and always feel very satisfied with the service and healthcare they provide.
It definitely is great having that peace of mind as a mom! Good luck to your daughter as she looks for the perfect college for her!
That sounds great! What a great relief for moms!
Having a great urgent care facility is so important. Seems like they would definitely take care of you!
Good that you are just not researching colleges for your daughter but where she can get the best health care if needed. Big changes coming to everyone in the family and exciting times.
It’s really brings a pang of relief when you know that medical care centers that are reliable are nearby. Convenience and accessibility are very important when it comes to healthcare and insurance.
We had something really similar to this when I was in college. It definitely came handy on more than one occasion!
I’m sure this helps with all the what ifs as your daughter goes off to college. I’m sure there are so many things to think about but happy you can check this one off your list.
Oh wow. I’ve never heard of Five Star Urgent Care before. This sounds like a very convenience and important service.
We have a similar Urgent Care by us. It’s great to have the peace of mind that we have someplace to take our kids outside of their normal doctor’s hours.
It’s a huge weight off of a mom’s shoulder to know that there are medical care centers near your child campus. Especially since you are far away.
We have an urgent care close to our house and it has been a real lifeline for me with the children. They have been able to help us when the children were very unwell!
That’s amazing that they do x-rays and stitches etc. Not all of them do that and you don’t always want to go to the ER for sure!
Wow! Sounds like a urgent care place with a lot of resources. We are lucky to be nearby one!
Urgent Care facilities that are nearby and perform outstanding make having to go there less stressful.
It’s my first time to hear about Five Star Urgent Care and it is great to know that there’s a nearby facility out there that you can rely on during emergencies.
Good luck to your daughter in New York! I’m sure she’ll have the time of her life. For incoming students at one of Denver’s many schools, I recommend Rocky Mountain Urgent Care.
I’m going through the same thing with my son heading to SUNY Albany next month. I spent last weekend sorting his insurance paperwork and realized I had no idea if his Aetna plan covers out-of-state urgent care. I even found myself typing How do I contact Aetna customer service for assistance? into Google at midnight while folding his laundry. Having walk-in centers like Five Star near campus would absolutely put my mind at ease.
