Get your kids outdoors and learning with Backyard Safari gear

July 8, 2011 by Melissa Chapman 2 Comments

It’s summertime which means while it is not all that hard to get my kids outdoors- what I’d prefer is to get them outdoors doing something constructive as opposed to destructive ( if you have a boy- you’ll FULLY understand this quandry of mine!)

Which is why I’m gaga for Backyard Safari Outfitters line of gear  , as their products make it pretty darn easy to get your  kids up and outdoors exploring nature in a completely educational way that is pure FUN and exploring   at a whole new level. It’s  not the typical let’s go outdoors and look at the grass and flowers- rather these products   encourage  them to use their noggins and look at the outdoors in a completely new and different way.

One of my favorite features of this line of gear is the fact that EACH  Backyard Safari product comes with a Pop-Up Field Guideâ„¢   which features a unique in-the-field mission in line with the toy’s specific play pattern. With their Pop-Up Field Guides children can learn to be Bug Wranglers, Bird Watchers, and more!  So when  kids take the gear out of the box- they aren’t staring into space- wondering what to do with it– they actually have a plan, a mission to explore and of course this one exploration, will organically lead to others ( trust me- my six year old can and has spent a solid THREE hours outdoors breaking in his gear, and when he comes home from day camp each day- the first thing he asks is.. .”Mommy can we go outside with our Backyard Safari stuff and be explorers?!” And how can a mama say no to that?!

Some of my fave new   Backyard Safari Outfitters products  ( including their new Patch Program) include but are are definitely not limited to these:

A  Base Camp Shelter   YOUR BASE OF OPERATIONS!
This rugged shelter is lightweight, easy to assemble and features storage spaces for all your   little explorer’s Essential Field Gear. Over 40″ tall, it’s even large enough for several Backyard Safari Kids to set up their own instant base camp in the field…all year round.

Bird Watcher’s Field Kit

The KIT IS EQUIPPED   with everything your LITTLE EXPLORER will    need for birdwatching in the field. It includes a pair of 5 x 3o power binoculars with 2.5″ lens shades, a lightweight tripod that can be tabletop or handheld, plus three different bird callers (Reed, Whistle & Chirp) for attracting every kind of bird. From Loons to Hawks, Gees to Ducks and just about every backyard song bird. It also comes with a  collectible BIRD WATCHER iron-on patch & POP-UP FIELD GUIDEâ„¢ with in-the-field missions and two large ‘pop-up’ pages illustrating dozens of birds helping you to identify specimens in the field.

Hiking Stick GET ON THE TRAIL!
This unique Backyard Safariâ„¢ HIKING STICK is the perfect piece of personal gear that’s indispensable to your little explorer  on the trail. It has a unique hand-carved look on a sturdy natural looking walking stick that is a stout 48″ tall. It will help one  keep a steady foot on the trail and is useful for poking and prodding those hard-to-reach places!

The Backyard Safari Outfitters Essential Cargo Vest   This essential piece of field gear is  rugged, and tough enough for all your outdoor adventures. Plenty of cargo pockets means lots of space to load up. Six D-Rings and two shoulder epaulets let your little explorer  clip and hang more essential gear. A large zipper pocket stores your explorer’s  trusty binocs and a clear-view chest pocket stores  their Pop-Up Field Guidesâ„¢. The back of the vest also features a one-size-fits-all adjustable strap and two extra mesh pockets for storing extra gear.  This is  a must-have for every BACKYARD SAFARIâ„¢ kid.

Camouflage     The Backyard Safari CAMOUFLAGE is Essential Field Gear with dozens of uses. It will blend in with the natural environment, make a sun shade, erect a shelter or create a blind to stay hidden while your little explorer  observes nature.  Its unique die-cut design is stretchable, made of sturdy rip-stop nylon and will stand up to wet weather.

Bottom line…whether you are planning a backyard campout or taking a hike through your local park, Backyard Safari Outfitters can equip you and your little explorers  to embark on an  adventure they’re not soon to forget!

This is such a great way to get kids excited about nature, and it’s amazing how small adventures can turn into big learning moments. As they grow older, you can take this idea even further with real-world exploration like a self-drive safari in Tanzania, Kenya, or Uganda, where families can see wildlife up close and learn about nature in its purest form. Companies like Safari Masters make it easier by providing 4×4 vehicles, routes, and gear so you can safely explore at your own pace. If you ever want to turn backyard adventures into a real African journey, you can visit this website to learn how Safari Masters helps families experience nature in a much bigger and unforgettable way.

Getting kids outdoors with safari-style exploration gear is honestly such a good idea because it turns ordinary backyard time into something educational and exciting at the same time. Children naturally become more curious when they can observe insects, plants, and tiny outdoor details up close instead of staying glued to screens. I’ve been using https://buganalyzr.com/ recently to identify unusual insects and bug bites from photos, and it’s surprisingly fun for families who want to learn more about the creatures kids discover during outdoor adventures.
