There are FEW foods that every single person in my home will eat. In fact I can count them all on one hand and RICE is one of them. But my pickiest eater- my nine year old son who has been spitting up food and wrestling with a gag reflex from the moment he was pulled from my womb ( yes he was my c-section baby who refused to turn!) –only likes the rice we get from Chinese food restaurants.
So of course my husband and I , in an effort to appease our boy get our weekly order of brown rice which we will then use in the week’s meals. I’ve found the trick to getting my boy to eat is to mix anything and everything with RICE! So when Della Rice gave me the chance to try their rice and serve it up with a rice cooker it was a win-win since it meant a reprieve from our weekly Chinese Food rice orders!
Anything that will get him to eat I am willing to try. Check it out below!

I made my first pot of Basmati white rice with the rice cooker and it came out great and then the fighting for rice started, the kids loved it plain and the rice was soon gone.
I next tried the Della Basmati Brown Rice again just plain and quickly eaten. They loved the taste, texture more than any other rice they had ever eaten.
And now onto my Chili Stir. So, what’s a you ask Stir? It is a dinner creation which incorporates Della rice as its foundation (or bottom of the bowl) Della rice, and the toppings can include pretty much anything else you want to put in/on it! Meat, Tofu. Cheese or if you have a sweet tooth some maple syrup and bananas and milk ( aka a cereal rice bowl!) You pick. You decide. Create your own Stir and ANY MEAL is served in 20 minutes or less! Click here to watch these great videos on how to Stir Up Dinner: A Stir has many benefits but, most importantly, any novice home cook can easily assemble a Stir with the myriad ingredients found in the refrigerator or pantry. It’s that easy.
We tried the rice over my homemade chili so I whipped up another batch this time Jasmine white and the results again were amazing. I love my chili but added to this delicious rice it was THAT much better.
