HUGS: Celebrate National Hugging Day with 11 HUGGING Expressions of Emotion

January 19, 2017 by Melissa Chapman 15 Comments

The fear of dying is common to nearly everyone on the planet. We struggle with this unknown element throughout our lives. But, hugging can help us deal with the fear. According to research published in Psychological Sciences, hugs decrease fear of mortality. Lead researcher Sander Koole wrote: “Even fleeting and seemingly trivial instances of interpersonal touch may help people to deal more effectively with existential concern,” ( see the rest of the article 6 science-backed reasons why you should go hug someone now) and so I am all about celebrating National Hugging Day with these 11 hugging expressions of emotion from oooo.dating (which ones resonate most with you?!)

HUGS: Celebrate National Hugging Day with 11 HUGGING Expressions of Emotion

#1 Flirty Hug
Your not dating but you think there may be a bit of spark, this is the hug that is going to help you decide if you have read the situation correctly. Look out for cheek on cheek, and warm embrace and close bodily contact.
#2 Looking into Your Eyes
A hug for lovers. It has a bit of everything. Eye contact, followed by a kiss and close body contact. Ladies, if you like this hug then make sure your man is taller than you or take the heals off.

#3 Squeeze
Is your boyfriend a Grappler? The squeeze is the perfect stress relieving hug that makes you feel safe and secure.

#4 Love in The Air
Straight from the movies or at least from Dirty Dancing. This hug is very visual and not for the amateur. Get in wrong and he will put his back out and she will end up face down on the floor. Get it right and you can put everyone else to shame next time you meet your wife or girlfriend at the airport.

#5 Shoulder Pillow
A true sign of affection. Although not as comfortable as a plump pillow it hug makes your man feel proud and your lady feel loved.
#6 Cuddling
A bedtime hug after a night of passion. Cuddle up and fall asleep.
#7 Bizarre
Everything about the bizarre hug feels wrong. You were expecting a handshake at most but suddenly your embracing and thinking, “what the f*** is this?”. Don’t threat too much, it will soon be over and make sure you get the handshake in early next time.
#8 A Quick One
Parties, weddings, business events. This half hearted hug really means, “There is someone else I really need to talk to, let’s get this over quickly!”.
#9 Bro Code
When two alpha males are feel they are too manly for a real hug they opt for the chest bump. Usually accompanied with a roar or shout. They think they look cool, but we all think differently.
#10 Pet Hug
Dogs, may be cats but not so good for pet fish. This hug will reduce your stress levels but research has shown that it does the opposite for your pet. Use only in an emergency.
#11
Farewell Walk
The one armed farewell hug means it’s time to say good bye. The future is unclear but it may not be long until you experience a flirty hug again and start on a new journey.

I love these! When I got to the Bro hug I literally LOL’d. Dudes are so afraid that they’ll become women or something if they hug each other. 😉

I love the celebration of hugging day as hugs are the great and essential parts of our livings. In addition to different types of hugs, you also provide different expressions of hugs that is little change and unique thing.
