Having written my Staten Island Advance Kids in the City column since April 2007, I’ve had the extraordinary privilege to not only meet many stay-at-home dads but I’ve also become acquainted with many who have designed flexible work schedules in order to pitch in and really take an active role in raising their children. My grandmother gave me a dress that she had when she was a teenager, It was awful looking! It was frog green w checked pattern and zig zag as lace…can you imagine..I never wore it and I gave it to the Salvation Army, a few years later.

The best/worst present I have ever got was a big jacket with Winnie The Pooh on it from my mom. I needed a jacket, but I didn’t want it to have pooh on it. But, I’ve had that jacket since I was around 20 years old. 17 years later, I still have it, and I still wear it, because it’s the most comfortable one I have, and now, I don’t mind Winnie The Pooh being on it.

The best present I ever gave was a signed baseball to my husband of a player he is a fan of.
My best present was my daughter, she was miracle baby, the doctor told me that I only had a 25% chance of getting pregnant, after my reverse tubulargation. My husband and I didn’t have any children together and I wanted to give him a child, so I had my tubes fixed back, so I could have children again. One year after my surgery, I got pregnant. Our beautiful daughter was born on December 22 – We were and our so happy! Thanks for this lovely giveaway and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

A re-gifted rainbow sweater.
The worst present I have ever gotten was from a boyfriend (who in fact is my husband today!) who gave me some slippers that ended up being one of his grandmother’s christmas gifts from his aunt from the year before! You should have seen the face on his grandmother’s face when she saw me wearing them!! To make matter worse he had also given my Mother a Christmas present, a ceramic decoration that was very poorly handcrafted (apparently made by his uncle) and that when turned over had a hollow opening that had spider webs in it!!

The best gift I’ve ever received is my son. He was born 2 days after Christmas. Now I have another one on the way, due on Mother’s Day 🙂
My worst present ….a new set of pot & pans from my MIL. She bought them from KOHL’s and thank goodness kept the receipt. When I got them home and opened them up after Christmas I found 2 of the pans were used and someone had burned the bottoms of the pans. I took them back to KOHL’s and they could not believe that they had been put back on the sales floor in that condition and not checked when someone else obviously returned them.
