Congrats to our winner Gideon!!!
As the saying goes baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and Chevrolet; well we covered two of the four on Sunday April 7. It was real Americana, a great way to spend the day with our two kids and best of all a happy ending as the Mets won in the ninth inning.
My husband has blue and orange RUNNING through his veins. He will support this The NY Mets till he takes his very last breath ( I sometimes wonder who he loves more- me or The Mets….but I digress). My daughter is 11 and my son is eight and while they are not as staunch Mets fans as their dad the energy and pomp and circumstance of Citifiled with its fanfest, its glorious stadium, its endless snacks and sparkling green field- had them pumped and cheering and chanting and they truly loved every minute of the Citifield NY Mets experience. A special treat that day was the kids running the bases at the end of the game as the Mets let kids onto the field.
The topper was taking pictures with Mr. Met who was so fan friendly.
The game started out slow and the Mets were losing but once they got 20-year-old Jose Fernandez out of the game, the New York Mets breathed a sigh of relief and went to work. Marlon Byrd grounded a two-run single just inside third base in the bottom of the ninth inning and New York rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Miami Marlins on Sunday.
Daniel Murphy homered and Anthony Recker had a run-scoring double for the Mets, who spoiled an impressive major league debut by the Marlins’ prized pitching prospect.
We can’t wait to go back and the kids have been talking about it ever since. Lets Go Mets.
