I Have Lived, Learned and With Baby #2 I Got Luvs and More No Nonsense Parenting Advice is a sponsored post
After 20 years in the trenches I can with all certainty make this statement: I Have Lived, Learned and with Baby #2 I Got Luvs because every parent will tell you- the mom you are with your second baby is a much chiller and smarter mom!
Let me paint the pic for you… At my eldest child’s first birthday party, I vividly recall a handful of relatives quizzing me about my plans for making baby No. 2. At the time, another baby was the last thing on my radar screen; I was completely enmeshed in my daughter’s every waking movement and desperately wanted to hang onto this little world where she and I would color, sing and watch fairy princess videos all day long. Eventually, my little redhead became not so angelic and went full steam ahead into the terrible two’s, and I thought, maybe the time was right to get started on Baby No. 2.
Unfortunately, getting pregnant the second time around wasn’t as easy, and I had to undergo several treatments for infertility. After nine excruciatingly stressful months of trying to conceive, my blood test was finally positive. And, while my husband and I were overjoyed, my 3 and a ½-year-old did not share our excitement.
This leads me to why I’m writing this post. In my case, 14 years ago, there were no sibling-preparation classes on Staten Island and so I got every book I could to help me explain the answers to my daughter’s incessant questions like: “How do mommies and daddies have babies?” “Why is your belly so big?” “Why are you always tired (and prone to major mood swings)?” And the big one: “What will happen to me when the new baby comes to live with us?”
To help all you pregnant moms out there to answer your child’s flood of questions, I have compiled a comprehensive list of activities to make your eldest child feel special and 100 percent part of the welcoming process and a few products including Luvs that will encourage every big sibling to feel like they are helping out and caring for baby too!
