There are truly no real words to express what one feels while watching some of the very raw and honest scenes in the new Lifetime TV original movie BabySellers. It is one of the most real-to-life portrayals of how HUMANS- babies to be exact- are treated more like product than flesh and blood living, breathing creatures and are traded on the black market.
Inspired by true events, the movie is a horrific account of the brutal and dreadful realism behind global baby trafficking. Many of the babies are kidnapped from their homes without the birth parents knowledge or under duress. In many countries girls are the target as they are not considered to be as “valuable” as boys. The film takes you across the globe, as we watch Nicole Morrison, the dedicated, tough and determined Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent played with precision by Jennifer Finnigan attempt to take down Carla Huxley, corrupt but well-respected, influential owner of a major U.S.- based adoption agency that helps prospective parents fulfill their dream of having a family played with an evil detachment by Kirstie Alley.
What ensues is an opportunity for us as viewers to see how insidious and complex these baby selling operations are-and the pain and anguish those mothers whose babies are literally RIPPED FROM THEIR WOMBS face in the ensuing days and moments after they realize they have lost a part of their soul forever.
I had a chance to chat with Jennifer Finnigan about this transformative role and of course I also got some scoop on her hubby the dashing Jonathan Silverman and some of her beauty tips too ( cause girlfriend has some gorgeous skin!) You can check it out here:
I am proud to call myself a Lifetime mom after watching this film- Baby Sellers–which doesn't sugarcoat this industry on any level. 600-800 k people are trafficked across international borders each year and many are children.
Lifetime TV exposes this dark trade in #BabySellers which premieres 8/17. Star Jennifer Finnigan takes it to the next level of perfection with her performance. You don't feel like you are watching a screenplay- rather Baby Sellers feels like a documentary. Baby Sellers premieres on Lifetime, Saturday, August 17 at 8/7c.
