Our favorite family, kids and parenting pins–Pinterest can actually improve your life OFFLINE!

March 17, 2018 by Melissa Chapman 13 Comments

I am ADDICTED to Pinterest… that's right as in I can't stop pinning and oddly enough I was late to the party as well. I thought- really do I honestly have even more more free moment to devote to yet another social media outlet.

But oh some of these images are so seductive, sweet and make me want to live a better life (or at least lust after a better version of my life) that I felt I had to incorporate them into my life off line– my real life.  So here are some of the pins I've stumbled upon that I will not only be pinning and pining after but I may just use them to enhance the quality of my family life. that's right– here are some of Our favorite family, kids and parenting pins–Pinterest can actually improve your life OFFLINE!

For example for my kidlets, who don't relish going to school I'll be giving each of them one of these cards!

Pins that encourage healthy eating

How to make Spaghetti cupcakes (otherwise known as I'll do anything to get food down my 13 year old's gullet)

I have a thing for fairies (so even if my kids don't want to do this with me I DON'T Care!)

Fairies in a jar DIRECTIONS: 1. Cut a glow stick and shake the contents into a jar. Add diamond glitter 2. Seal the top with a lid. 3. Shake

Pins that will encourage kids to use their critical skills

I really just want to ensure that my kids won't just completely abandon their creative writing skills in favor of being on their scooters permanently.

I'm hoping this quart-sized canning jar filled with folded strips of paper each  of which contains a single thought provoking journal prompt paired with a pretty blank book will keep them writing.

Pins that will encourage kids to use their imaginations

It's true what what they say, your kids WILL play with a cardboard box (and here's a wonderful way to do so!)

A box + a child's imagination = a magical land! photo courtesy

These DIY Gummy LEGOs Are GENIUS

These DIY Gummy LEGOs Are GENIUS

YouTuber Grant Thompson — a.k.a. ‘The King Of Random” — created a highly customizable gummy base using corn syrup, gelatin, and Jell-O packs. Simply inject the concoction into Lego ice molds (like these), and voilà — you've got yourself a chewy, translucent version of the construction toy. The best part? These treats retain the stackability of the real thing, which opens up a world of opportunities for mini architectural wonders you can also snack on.

I am obsessed with Pinterest, too. We try lots of things we see on there in our home. Some work out awesome and we’ve had some major fails, too LOL.

I love Pinterest so much! A lot of people think Pinterest is nothing more than a time waster, but that’s not true. It’s so much more than pretty pictures.

Pinterest is such a great organizer for me. As a preschool teacher, I keep track of pins for different learning activities and holidays and can go back when I need them.

Those spaghetti cupcakes are absolutely brilliant! Those were the ones that caught my attention right away so I could see why they would catch a toddler’s attention, too.
