Tips to Plan a Super Bowl BASH! I've mentioned before that I'm a sports widow– my husband will watch and or listen to any live sporting event except for Hockey.
Although if I begin to nag him to do something- he could probably be pushed into watching an NHL game.
So this year I've decided since I can't beat him I will join him with my Tips to Plan a Super Bowl BASH! This Includes a recipe for Faux Cheeseburger DIP.
Of course the Super bowl for him is really just another game- because as a staunch fan- he watches ALL the games- not just the glitzy glam ones that Mary J. Blige is performing at.
I wish I could say that I will be watching the Super bowl with him, but try as he might, I still have not gotten a handle on the rules and attraction of football.
Me: I really have tried to understand the whole down system.
The husband (shaking his head and laughing): You haven't given it a real try , it's definitely not that complicated.
Me: You explained it to me several times, I still don't get it.
The husband : Well the Superbowl will be fun because of the commercials, Madonna and all the pomp and circumstance.
Me: Maybe we should have a party:
The husband : I don't like superbowl parties.
Me: Why not?
The husband : Because you don't get to watch the game- no one is really watching the game.
Me: Even the guys?
The husband : Well there are just too many distractions at a party, and it attracts the non-football fan.
Me: You mean people like me?
The husband : yes.
Me: So what should I do while you're watching the game- especially because I have no idea what's going on?
The husband : I like you to watch with me.
Me: No you usually tell me I'm asking too many questions and that I make you miss the good plays.
The husband : Well my ideal day for Spending Super bowl Sunday is to turn on the pregame shows and start eating your special Faux Cheeseburger DIP.
Me: Wait what does this have to do with me, and our relationship and my aversion to football?
The husband : Nothing except we all get to eat Faux Cheeseburger DIP.
Keep reading for my Tips to Plan a Super Bowl BASH Including a Faux Cheeseburger DIP Because the truth is –the real reason people go to Super Bowl parties? Food.
The most important thing you can do is make sure you tell your guests to come to your bash with empty bellies so you can fill them up with all your goodies!
Tips to Plan a Super Bowl BASH Including a Faux Cheeseburger DIP
#1 Go with the comfort foods. Remember no one gains weight on game day- so don't be shy about loading up on FAUX Cheeseburger Dip ( each serving is just TWO POINTS on weight watchers)
Recipe: This recipe does NOT taste meatless – well, it does if you’re a vegetarian but meat eaters go CRAZY for it as well. Think SUPER BOWL! 🙂
2 points per serving or 19 points for the entire batch.
Makes about 12 servings at ¼ cup each
1 ½ cups meatless crumbles
1 cup vegetable broth
8oz Velveeta cheese with 2% milk
Combine ingredients in slow cooker. Cook on low heat for 2 hours.
This is a recipe that started out as a soup, but ended up as a dip. Be careful with what you use to dip, though, because points add up quickly when you’re using chips or crackers! Set aside a serving and stick with it.
#2 Try to incorporate the Teams in your food choices– for example- if you are a Cincinnati Bengals fan- try and incorporate anything that you resembles Skyline chili! And if you root for the Los Angeles Rams you might want to serve up some Cali style tex-mex eats!
#4 Remember when it comes to Décor Less Can Be More
Super Bowl parties are mostly about cheering and booing together, indulging in yummy snacks and adult beverages. Have fun with the decor, but focus on what really matters: food, football and friends. Make sure you have a few footballs that you can toss around!
We also love bottle koozies will keep everyone's drinks cold, and help distinguish whose is whose. Set out a big pile of koozies and some permanent markers, and guests will have fun doodling and personalizing!
What about entertainment? While the pro athletes are playing in the big game have fun placing some friendly bets, and quench your thirst with drinking games. Not a Lady Gaga fan? Pass the time during halftime other ways, too (Puppy Bowl, anyone?)
