The Quintessential MOBILE TECH Family HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE is sponsored by Verizon
The truth is- the holidays are kind of magical. It is that time of the year when everyone seems to slow down and count their blessings. We all seem to linger just a bit longer over meals with family and friends and really marinate in the beauty of ordinary moments- as the countdown to a brand new year makes us feel unusually cognizant of the evanescent nature of our lives. I for one LOVE that the holidays force me to slow down and drink in the sweet nectar of my children’s youth as all year long we seem to be on auto-pilot as we dash from school drop off to after school activities and that buttercream birthday party weekend circuit and well a million and one to do errands.
One of my favorite things to do over the holidays is adorn gifts with pretty bows and paper I absolutely LOVE spending hours beautifying and wrapping presents . And yes looking for JUST the right gift for each of my loved ones. Keep reading for my tips to help you breeze through your holiday chores with confidence my Quintessential MOBILE TECH Family HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE thanks to Verizon !
#1 Bake in Bulk
I’m not the cook of the family but I can make a mean batch of cookies and I love to gift them to friends and family and box them in this really cute reusable tins.
But I hate the mess and clean-up so my daughter and I will usually spend one complete day whipping up 10 batches of cookies and then boxing and wrapping them so that we always have plenty on hand to give away as presents and don’t have to think about baking and can handle the more pressing matters when we are with our friends and relatives like who will FINALLY be the winner at that Game of Life and Twister!
#2 When tackling the north pole workshop dress in your holiday best ( you never know when you might get the perfect impromptu Holiday family picture).
If your have kids chances are they will be begging to visit the north pole at your local mall. And how can you blame them? A chance to glimpse the magic of Santa’s workshop and elves is a lure that is simply impossible to resist! In fact My son loves to take me on the holiday headquarters workshops at every mall across NYC and hit up as many Santas and elf shops as we possibly can. So this year I decided I’d put on a dress and makeup -as opposed to my usual yoga pants uniform, and lo and behold, we got some great shots of the two of us!
#3 Shop the Pre Black Friday Sales and Wrap your Presents ASAP
Forget Black Friday! Lucky for all of us so many companies are extending sales a few weeks before Thanksgiving so that you don’t need to leave your family over the holiday to shop with the masses! And while you’re out shopping ALWAYS hit up those clearance racks. One of my secret tips is to get all my wrapping papers and bows at the dollar store- which usually has a pretty serious supply at rock-bottom prices! And once you have all your gits and wrapping essentials, pour yourself a cup of coffee and get to taping and tying those bows!
#4 Once you’ve taken care of your holiday to do list- don’t forget to take care of you!
Part of your holiday to do-list MUST include a day of beauty or pampering JUST for you. Whether it means getting a mani-pedi, a massage or treating yourself to a new pair of heels ( to match your holiday best) or some much needed bling-
Tis the season for shopping- and with Thanksgiving literally days away you might not have a chance to get to a store and spend hours combing through racks and shelves of products HOPING you’ll find that perfect special something that you know your teen daughter will love. So basically it is a shot you take- and there are no guarantees. Which is why this year I am TICKLED about the fact that I can search online Oh and the kicker then I (or my husband) can JUST BUY THEM right there and then and have them shipped directly to me. Seems like an idea that should’ve been instituted years ago-right?!
