The Sunday Swoon: Holiday Essentials for Kids

So it’s true we are Jewish, which means we don’t have a tree, we don’t have a Santa and as a lover and NOT a competitor I am not that mom who is trying to create a Chanukah-like Christmas for my kids. Sure singing carols and trimming a tree would be fun- but I really feel like it is important as a parent to model behavior for my kids that I hope they will emulate for their future kids. What is this behavior I refer to? The idea that my kids need to be content with their lot in life and not feel this burning desire to compete with/ keep up with what others are doing. So while December might not mean a tree, sitting on Santa’s lap ( although I’m not sure they’d like to sit on a creepy strange man’s lap anyway)- it does mean Chanukah fun and presents for eight nights!
