Get your glam on this week with a flirty ponytail that will complement any look, whether getting decked for dinner or having a low key movie date night. Lauren McCowan hair director for EVO who styled models for New York Fashion week shares how she created an effortless ponytail that brings out the shape of the face with texture and separation, enabling the focus to remain on the Tome collection and to add a sporty edge to ladylike construction.
The inspiration for the look came directly from Tome’s collection, which has become synonymous with classic structure and exquisite tailoring, but with unexpected finishes and fabrics. The looks for the collection were quite ladylike, so McCowan wanted to bring a sport luxe feel to the hair and a really effortless finish to offset the tailoring of the collection; maintaining that hint of the unexpected. Step 1: spray in evo® root canal around the front hair line, through the sides and the top of the head to the crown and comb back with a wide tooth comb. dry with a blowdryer.
Step 2: layer evo® shebang-a-bang over the front of the hair and rake in for separation and texture.
Step 3: set the sides of the hair with evo® helmut light hairspray and work hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck.
Step 4: using a thin elastic or hat elastic and secure hair into a tight ponytail at the base of the hair.
Step 5: detail ponytail with evo® shebang-a-bang sprayed only into random areas of the tail, for an unexpected clash of texture and definition
