Tips to encourage our boys to take more of an interest in their self care is written in partnership with PREP U
I have begun to notice changes happening in my not so little boy these days. He has always been a social kind of kid and was well liked by all his friends but over the past 6 months to a year a lot of those friends are girls and he closes the door when he is talking to them. How rude– I can’t hear through that door?!
Let me set the scene for all of you who are part of the #boymom tribe
7am me: “Jackson, time to get ready for school”
Jackson: “I’m ready”
me: “did you wash your face?” Jackson “I mentally washed it”
Me: “go wash your face!”

Compared to girls, young guys (and their parents) don’t always have the same access to tools and resources that can help ease their transition into adulthood. When it comes to puberty, girls often take the spotlight, while guys take the backseat. … Until now!
#1 Arm them with products they will want to use on their own like Prep U products starting with this Charcoal Face & Body Scrub which are totally mom approved as they contain Essential Bergamot oil, from the Bergamot citrus fruit, provides a fresh, cleansing fragrance which is said to help create feelings of relaxation and focus.
Confidence Starts with Good Hygiene. While hygiene and body odor might not seem like the frontline in the struggle for independence, it’s the point where physiological changes meet philosophical ones, where tangible problems (i.e., dirt and smells) meet the desire for kids to make decisions for themselves. Our goal at Prep U is to provide choices for parents and boys that are both age appropriate and empowering at this critical stage of development.

2. Make self care part of their sports routine. My son works out regularly and plays basketball. He knows he sweats like crazy and as long as I put a Charcoal Face & Body Scrub in his gym bag he knows he can get his on-the-go cleanse. Making it super easy and having it in his bag is one less excuse for why he can’t wash up after sweating, to help keep his pores clear and remove excess oil.
3. I always tell my son–if you want to be attractive to the opposite sex them you MIGHT want to have a clear complexion (and that my fellow parents always work!)
