Can you Wear Chunky Sweaters Without Looking Like You Gained 20 Pounds?! I am four feet 11 inches and THREE QUARTERS tall. I am a little person and therefore while I LOVE sweater weather, I also abhor it all at once. I love that I can cover up, layer, don hats, jewel tones and great boot, but I often find when choosing sweaters, I can’t opt for the chunky ones- lest I don’t mind looking like an amorphous potato sack. As a petite girl I’ve found tailored and form fitting clothing work best for my body because they show my waist and provide the illusion of a longer torso, and hence elongate my tiny frame. So what’s a girl like me to do? Head on over to PINTEREST and Find a way to wear those sweaters and not appear as those I’ve gained 20 pounds or am out and about wearing my jammies.
And this is PICTURE ABOVE IS exactly the kind of big baggy (or even off-the-shoulder) sweater I’m looking to pair with print leggings!
#1 Pair an oversized cardigan with leggings and a killer heel.
The leggings provide that much needed lengthening of your legs, paired with a nice chunky heel. I love this look from Pinterest:
This look from ShopDailyChic.com is EXQUISITE.
#2 Try a cropped sweater with a high waisted skirt.
This look helps you play with proportions, the high waist skirt, makes sure to accentuate your waist, so that you don’t look like you don’t have one! I love this look from The Reformation
A Black turtleneck sweater and Add some length and some hot to your wardrobe with The Nectar Skirt; a midi skirt with a fitted high waist and front slit.
I also love mixing a black sweater with a pencil skirt.
This look from Express –Cropped Sweater & High Waist Skirt–is PERFECTION.
#3 Choose an Open Neck/ Boat Neck sweater and pair it with printed pants and heels.
The pattern on the pants draws attention away from the bulkiness of the sweater. And don’t forget to do a half tuck to show just a bit of the waist.
So which one is your favorite look?
