We’re still on a mission to go green (and with this giveaway we hope you’ll join us!)

May 12, 2011 by Melissa Chapman 2 Comments

I have to admit being a part of   The Motherhood’s   Scott Naturals test drive campaign has felt more like a peace misson than an assignment. Being able to talk about my desire to help the planet, decrease my carbon footprint, support the National Wildlife Federation and use products like Scott Naturals, which  are incredibly cognizant of   respecting our plane’s natural resources, has been the icing on the cake. And this entire campaign process definitely has got me thinking, how interesting would it be to be able to  calculate the  impact one person or family can have by making one small life change.

For example, how many plastic grocery bags can you avoid throwing away by bringing reusable bags to the store for a year?   10 years?   What about bringing reusable coffee mugs to Starbucks or walking/biking instead of driving?   So even if you think, well I’m just one person and what I do to help green the earth might not amount to a whole hill of beans- well I’m here to tell you that, that  is just untrue.

So what can you do right now?

Check out the Scott website/NWF Donation http://www.ScottBrand.com/4WeekTestDrive   where you can pledge  your participation in the Scott Naturals 4-Week Test Drive. As part of this project, Scott Naturals will be making a donation to the National Wildlife Federation. For every unique click-thru from http://www.ScottBrand.com/4WeekTestDrive Scott Naturals will donate $1 (up to $25,000 total) to the National Wildlife Federation. The challenge is to deliver 25,000 unique clicks, because Scott will donate up to $25,000 to NWF – just for this project!   (and what better way to protect our environment than to support the NWF!)

Until September 30, people can go www.ScottBrand.com/Naturals and pledge to participate in the Scott Naturals 4-Week Test Drive Program. While taking the pledge, they can enter for a chance to win a Ford Fusion hybrid sedan. Once you pledge to take the 4-Week Test Drive, coupons for each product are available at http://www.scottbrand.com/community/savings/scott . And after you take the pledge and enter the sweeps on the website you can share it on Facebook here http://www.facebook.com/ScottNaturals

And   to help one of you test drive your very own Scott Naturals products I’m giving away a Scott Naturals Kit (bath tissue, paper towel, flushable moist wipes, napkins). Their line is virtually indiscernible from their regular one- their Scott Naturals bath tissue, Scott Naturals moist flushable wipes, Scott Naturals paper towels and Scott Naturals napkins, in my humble opinion will get people to rethink their notion of environmentally friendly products. As the world’s first line of “hybrid” paper products, , the Scott Naturals brand combines the green benefits of recycled fiber with the quality people want, making it easy to take a green step forward. If every American pledged to use Scott Naturals for four weeks, it would save two million trees. If everyone who took a flight today took the 4-Week Test Drive, there would be 14,240 trees saved. (For more of these startling facts about one’s eco-footprint check out http://www.scottbrand.com/naturals/ ).

So here’s how it works:   Leave a comment on this blog post sharing that you’ve taken the pledge, have entered the 4-Week Test Drive Sweepstakes and one way you will go green in 2011.   For a second entry you can LIKE The Staten Island Family on Facebook. Good luck! Giveaway ends   May 19th!

I've taken the pledge, have entered the 4-Week Test Drive Sweepstakes and one way I will go green IS TO WALK WHENEVER POSSIBLE RATHER THAN DRIVE 2011, BUT IF I DO DRIVE IT WILL BE IN THE 46 MPG PRIUS.
