What Did Music Make You do? Tell us to win a $700 SOL REPUBLIC Prize pack! #MMMDI

September 25, 2014 by Melissa Chapman 34 Comments

Congrats to our winner Scott!

What has music made you do? What song reminds you of a special moment in time? Music is more than just words with a beat; music is emotion and provides us with inspiration. A good song can help us be happier, run faster, think clearer and love better. From the outrageous and irreverent to sexy and courageous, Music has essentially become the soundtrack of my life.
What Did Music Make You do? Tell us to win a $700 SOL REPUBLIC Prize pack! #MMMDI

I can hear a particular song and almost immediately be transported back to that very moment in time when I first heard that song. It will catapult me in every possible sense back to that moment, it elicits such a visceral response that it can often bring me to tears. YES, just hearing a song. Music is such a powerful tool- and in my marriage it has been a major force and bonding factor. My husband, ever the conservative guy- will upon hearing Earth, Wind and Fire's SEPTEMBER, grab me (wherever we are and dance with me) because he knows that song is my everything. When we hear the Bee Gee's sing How deep is your love- We will STOP WHAT WE ARE DOING AND LOOK AT EACH OTHER and just let hot, fat tears roll down our respective cheeks as we look deep into each other's eyes and sing to one another. (which our kids think is TOTALLY GROSS by the way).

For these reasons I HAD to get behind this new initiative:#MMMDI showcases and celebrates the stories we all have of music inspiring us to do anything and everything.

Showcasing some of the things music makes us do is the Music Made Me Do It Story video, Over the next month, SOL REPUBLICs Saviors of Sound (SOS) will be sharing their stories about how music has enabled them to do amazing things, from the incredible to the cringe worthy. Athlete Michael Phelps and DJ/Producer/Dim Mak Records Founder Steve Aoki are two of the SOL REPUBLIC SOS involved with the project.

“>

So I invite you share to something fun/interesting/crazy that music has inspired you to do and then in turn for a chance to win:

1 DECK wireless speaker
1 PUNK (new wireless speaker, comes out Tuesday)
1 Tracks HD headphone
1 Tracks headphone
1 master tracks xc headphone
1 relays headphone
1 jax headphone

So Put on your SOL REPUBLIC headphones, turn up the volume and watch the first of many Music Made Me Do It videos as we try to capture the joy, passion and raw emotion that music invokes in us all. These are the moments that leave us powerless when the greatest force in the world takes over.

#MMMDI I remember back to my first ‘real’ kiss. America’s “Sister Golden Hair” was on the radio, and we had a transistor radio while we were sitting on the embabkment to the river. It was a lazy summer day, he leaned in and started singing ‘I can’t stop thinkin bout you sister golden hair surprise’ and kissed me softlly. I was 15 and so was he, and I think for both of us, not only was it our first kiss, we were both so nervous we didnt know what to do. We sat there on the bank of the river watching the water both with big goofy grins. I will never forget thatt kiss or song and every time I hear it, I am transported back to innocent days and silly grins. If I close my eyes I can smell the river and the fresh scent of strawberry shampoo. #MMMDI and Music mkes me remeber how sweet it was.

When I was a teenager, my friends and I really enjoyed music and dancing. We would go to the local dance club and have competitions on who had the best dance moves and we also did many different talent shows which involved dancing to our favorite music. So many wonderful music moments that bring great memories to this day. Back then, music is what we lived for and we would go out of our way to entertain others. #MMMDI

I love music! Music goes with my mood..when I am happy I love upbeat music. When I am sad I go with sappy songs. Music has helped me through many breakups and happy moments #MMMDI

My first concert was while in college, and I’m normally a very reserved person. It was something about the music combined with the excitement of the audience that got us all up standing on our chair and rockin’ out to the Beastie Boys! #MMMDI
