Summer kick-off is closer than you think. But just in case you do not feel completely beach body ready (and really who of us every does unless we are privy to a personal trainer and chef ) my fashion fix is a GREAT, FITTED Moto Jacket!
While I’d love to rock a pair of white jeans- I’m not yet feeling THAT BOLD. But give me a moto jacket and IT IS ON. A favorite jacket of mine is this Pleather DKNY moto jacket I’m rocking in the pic above– it’s really lightweight and can be paired with skinny jeans or a fun dress.
And here are a few more tips from “The Fashion Guy” Lawrence Zarian author of “Lawrence Zarian’s 10 Commandments for a Perfect Wardrobe,” who shares the essentials that EVERY woman needs in her wardrobe arsenal.
1. Every item in your wardrobe must pull its weight – unless you are wearing it regularly, it needs to go! If you haven’t worn it in three years- get rid of it! even if it was a bargain but is three sizes too small – toss it or give it to a deserving charity! You may not have a lot left but
the clothes that make the cut will be the pieces that are flattering on you
and make you feel good!

2. The fundamentals for a great wardrobe include:
a little black dress in a style that suits you (love this Norma Kamali one above!)
A 2-piece pants suit like this Tahari ASL Single-Button Pantsuit above $99.99
A pencil, streamlined or long black skirt for you and your style
3 pairs of jeans (workplace appropriate if allowed, one hemmed for heels and one hemmed for flats)
classic flat-front pants
a white button-down shirt
a few blouses
a twin set
neutral tanks and tees for layering
a turtleneck sweater in black, cream or a primary color
a patterned jersey wrap dress
a blazer
2 bathing suits & cover-up
a below the knee coat
a winter coat
blazer/motorcycle type jacket
And of course foundation garments
# 3. You should be able to create four or five different “looks” with every piece on this list! For example: you could wear the white button-down with the pencil skirt, with the suit, with the khakis, with the jeans, or as a cover up over your bathing suit.
4. ACCESSORIZE! switching out accessories and these basic pieces will take you ANYwhere! These final details create a pulled-together look. Even if you love jeans and sweats, take a few minutes and one or two items to your daytime basics adn you will feel more complete and confident. Try a long scarf around your neck, an oversized pair of sunglasses or a fun pair of earrings, a stylish tote, or a few layered bracelets and you have gone from house mom to starlet mom. It’s fun!! Have fun!!
5. This spring/summer? Pastels! Long coats/stream-lined jackets are also on trend – they work with dressy pants, pencil or long skirts for the office or for casual. Also – that crisp white blouse! Timeless and important – can be casual or dressy and is truly the best possible canvas for accessorizing!!
